In Iran, the process that began with the Bazaari actions in Tehran’s Grand Bazaar has turned into a nationwide uprising. While the regime’s countrywide internet shutdowns have lasted up to a week at this point—surpassing even the internet blackouts during the 2011 Egyptian revolution—it has become extremely difficult to obtain reliable information from the country, also due to the circulation of images manipulated by artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, it is clear that the scale of violence used against the protesters has reached a rarely seen level, and that the death toll is no longer counted in tens or even hundreds, but in the thousands. The Revolutionary Workers Party (DIP), which in Turkey is waging a struggle for bread and freedom against Erdoğan’s despotic rule, regards the Iranian people’s quest for freedom against the rule of the mullahs as legitimate and salutes it.

Американский империализм, действуя особенно агрессивно при правлении Дональда Трампа, 3 января завершил свою многомесячную военную кампанию против Венесуэлы актом открытой агрессии. В результате масштабного нападения американских войск погибли десятки венесуэльцев, а также 32 кубинца, проживавшие в стране и оказывавшие социальные услуги бедным слоям населения. US imperialism, taking a particularly aggressive approach under Donald Trump’s rule, culminated its months-long war campaign against Venezuela with an act of open aggression on January 3rd. An extensive attack by the US forces killed dozens of Venezuelans, as well as 32 Cubans domiciled there to provide social services for the poor of the country, bombing various targets across the country and abducting the president, Nicolas Maduro, along with his spouse. This is nothing but an act of war and a perfect example of imperialist thuggery. Notwithstanding any prior criticisms one might have against Maduro and his rule, our task right now – that of the revolutionary forces worldwide – is to defend Venezuela against imperialist terror. We consider any act of resistance by Venezuela, military or otherwise, entirely legitimate and to be supported in the face of imperialist aggression and violation of the country’s sovereignty.

With last night’s bombings in the vicinity of the capital Caracas, even if imperialist aggression has not yet assumed the form of open war, the country is now being shaken by a sequence of war-like CIA covert operations. On 6 December 2008, the cold-blooded shot fired by the policeman Korkoneas into the body of 15-year-old student Alexandros Grigoropoulos ignited a 33-day uprising across Greece – an uprising that remains an indelible Event in the most recent Greek history. Together with December 1944 – the culminating moment of the epic of the guerrilla struggle of 1941–49 – and the Polytechnic uprising of 1973, the December of 2008 forms a bright star in the constellation of the struggle of the oppressed for social liberation.
Belém, a city located close to the Amazon rainforest, which itself is often referred to in almost any language as the "lungs of the earth," hosted COP 30, the last of conferences on climate change to date, in mid-November. Most of our readers will probably know that the term "COP" is an abbreviation for "Conference of Parties". The conference itself is, as we shall see shortly, meaningless. Moreover, its name is malapropos! Every international conference is, by definition, a conference of the national "parties" participating in that conference. Therefore, all international conferences held within or on the fringes of the United Nations system are each a "conference of parties". This name therefore says nothing about the substance of the conference. Under this appellation, it is impossible to understand that these meetings are held under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The inappropriateness is obvious, but at the same time very fitting. Because these conferences are organised to do nothing, or rather to ruminate on platitudes. There is nothing but parties.

Desde la primavera de 2023, cuando las Fuerzas Armadas Sudanesas, lideradas por el general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, y la milicia armada conocida como Fuerzas de Apoyo Rápido, liderada por el autoproclamado general Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, alias "Hemeti", se vieron envueltas en una guerra civil, Sudán, país del este de África donde coexistían árabes musulmanes y africanos negros, ha sufrido una masacre. Se estima que el número de muertos, tanto civiles como militares, alcanzó los 700.000. Pero cuando las fuerzas de Hemeti capturaron la ciudad de al-Fashir, el único bastión de las Fuerzas Armadas Sudanesas en la provincia de Darfur, en octubre, la noticia de la reanudación del genocidio perpetrado por dichas fuerzas en esa provincia, asolada por la pobreza, a principios de la década de 2000, volvió a poner a Sudán en el centro de la atención mundial (quizás debido a la tregua temporal de la guerra en Gaza). Desde entonces, hemos estado buscando la oportunidad de escribir un artículo que explique la importancia histórica de esta masacre, o mejor dicho, del genocidio. For weeks, the world has been debating Sudan. Since the spring of 2023, when the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the armed militia known as the Rapid Support Forces, led by the self-proclaimed “General” Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, alias "Hemedti," became embroiled in a civil war, Sudan, a country in East Africa where Arab Muslims and black Africans coexist, has suffered a massacre. The death toll, including both civilians and military personnel, is estimated to have reached 700,000. But when, in October, Hemedti's forces captured the city of al-Fashir, the only stronghold of the Sudanese Armed Forces in the province of Darfur, news of the resumption of the genocide perpetrated by those forces in that poverty-stricken province in the early 2000s once again put Sudan in the global spotlight (perhaps also due to the temporary truce in the war in Gaza). Since then, we have been looking for an opportunity to write an article explaining the historic significance of this massacre, or rather, genocide. But our busy schedule had not allowed us to do so.

Ama Ekim’de Hemeti’nin güçleri silahlı kuvvetlerin Darfur eyaletindeki tek kalesi el Faşir kentini ele geçirince 2000’li yılların başında bu zavallı eyalette yine Hemeti’nin güçlerince işlenen soykırımın yeniden başladığına ilişkin haberler (belki Gazze savaşı çok muhtemeldir ki geçici olarak bir sessizliğe büründüğü için) Sudan’ı bir kez daha dünya sahnesinin merkezine getirdi. Biz de o zamandan bu yana bir fırsat bulup bu katliamın, hatta soykırımın tarihî anlamını anlatacak bir yazı yazmayı planlıyorduk. Ama işlerimizin yoğunluğu bir türlü buna izin vermiyordu.

No one can look down on the celebrations of the martyred but indomitable Palestinian people in the streets of devastated Gaza. And one day of truce means one more day of life for the victims of genocide, especially for civilians and children emaciated by starvation. On the contrary, the pompous boasting of the fascist Trump, who narcissistically and foolishly claims that he alone has managed to bring "eternal peace to the Middle East" (!!), are cause for celebration. In an article we wrote at the beginning of October, discussing the youth uprisings in two African countries (Madagascar and Morocco), we emphasized that these countries are both Françafrique countries. What does this French term mean? It is the name given to the entire set of economic, political, cultural and ideological methods used by France, one of the two main perpetrators of Africa's colonial history that began in the 19th century, to maintain control over its former colonies since the end of the colonial era, i.e. since the 1960s. It is a term derived from combining the French equivalent of the words "France" and "Africa", in indissoluble unity.

The Venezuelan Movement of Solidarity with Palestine (MVSP) greets with cautious hope the announcement of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. However, we remember that a humanitarian truce does not equal justice, much less freedom. Recent history shows that Israel has violated previous ceasefire agreements at least 962 times. Using each pause not to build peace, but to rearm, reorganize its offensive, and continue massacring the Palestinian people.
