To understand who the war in Ukraine is really between, one should look at who was negotiating for the past two months. The negotiations took place between Putin and Biden, between Putin and NATO or between Putin and Macron. Ukraine was silent the whole time. Prior to the war, politics were conducted between the USA, the EU, NATO and Russia. Since war is the continuation of politics by other means, this war is not between Ukraine and Russia. In this war Ukraine is fighting a proxy war. This in itself should be an embarrassment for the Ukrainian people. What a shame to put your own people in harm’s way for the war of others! The Zelensky government, the proxy of NATO in Ukraine, has driven the neo-Nazi gangs – the murderers of the Ukrainian working people – to the front as so-called “volunteers”. This war is the expression, by other means, of the economic and political humiliation that America and Europe have inflicted on Ukraine.
This war is of little importance on its own. It is but a prelude to the possible future war between NATO and Russia. Those who want to prevent the bloodshed in the Ukrainian-Russian war, those who want "peace", have to deal with the essence of the problem. The crux of the matter is to prevent the NATO-Russia war, which will make today's war seem like a simple military exercise. It will possibly trigger a world war, perhaps with nuclear weapons. Those who want to prevent a world war have to understand the reasons behind that war.
If that war breaks out, it will be because the USA and NATO have been gradually encircling and isolating Russia for the last 30 years. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, NATO has expanded to 13 Eastern European countries. Sweden and Finland are under pressure to join NATO. In the south, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan are also waiting for their turn. NATO's encirclement strategy continues in Central Asia in various forms. Among all this, Ukraine stands out because it is located right in the bosom of Russia. If Ukraine enters NATO and is equipped with nuclear warheads, NATO will be able to hit Moscow within minutes. In the case of a possible NATO-Russia war, NATO – the united military apparatus of US, British and EU imperialism – will bear the responsibility. So, in order to stop war, it is necessary to stop this gamble of the USA and imperialism for world domination. Everyone who is in favor of humanity, peace and life should come to their senses. Peace is won fighting against the causes of war, not uttering empty touching words that vanish into thin air!
Let no one trust the Putin administration in the fight against imperialism! Putin's use of Russian nationalism as an excuse for domination over other peoples in his speech before the war – while attacking Lenin – showed once again that this regime, which still stokes capitalist restoration, is harmful for the region. The fraternity of Russia, Ukraine and the other peoples of the region will be ensured not through the blinders worn by the Russian nationalist Vladimir Putin, but thanks to the broad horizon of the great proletarian internationalist Vladimir Lenin.
As coincidence would have it, the commencement of the Ukraine-Russia coincided with the 70th anniversary of the date Turkey decided to join NATO with the votes of Adnan Menderes' ruling Democratic Party of the right and that of İsmet İnönü's CHP in opposition, reputed to be of the left. NATO was supposed to ensure Turkey's security. Rather, it has turned Turkey into a land of assassinations, murders, massacres and coups for 70 years through the counter-insurgency forces it established, quite in the same way as the Gladio was organised in Italy! It made the Turkish Armed Forces an army trained, armed and fighting under the control of the US army.
Today, given that Turkey is a member of NATO, both the front of despotism in power and what DIP calls the “American opposition” are deceiving the working class and the toiling people by blaming Russia for the war that has started. They do not have the shred of courage to say "stop" to NATO's aggression. They have to cover up the crimes of the Bidens and the Johnsons, whom they depend on.
Our working class should not be deceived. NATO is no peace organization. It is not an organization to protect peoples. NATO is the military organization of foreign capital that turned Turkey, hand in hand with Erdoğan’s regime of despotism, into a paradise of cheap labor with no unions and no strikes in the last 20 years. The war in Ukraine is a war between NATO and Russia; Ukraine is simply the territory on which this war happens to be waged. The culprit is NATO.
Ukraine should pledge not to join NATO!
Recognise the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics!
Not a single penny, bullet or soldier to NATO’s war!
