The working class and oppressed peoples of the world are confronted with a new stage of crisis of capitalism as a result of the great depression and the historic decline of the capitalist mode of production. The current shift shows a move beyond all the previous consensuses within the international bourgeoisie, that is to say, beyond Bretton Woods and beyond the so-called “Washington Consensus”, beyond the Cold War and beyond the so-called “New world Order” of the 1990s and 2000s.
This is the age of dog-eat-dog, where might is right, and social and geopolitical Darwinism is in full swing. Donald Trump is the harbinger and pioneer of this age. He is setting Elon Musk and his ilk for the destruction of social services, which had been constructed as a sort of a Maginot line against communism. Yet, the Maginot line of old is not needed any longer, given the collapse or dissolution of the previous workers’ states; hence the DOGE-led attack, commanded by Elon Musk and ordered by Donald Trump.
In addition, Trump has been whipping up a full-scale trade war to save the American economy on a nationalistic basis. This approach complements the deportation of as many immigrants as possible. Make no mistake, this is the fascist method to solve the crisis of capitalism, contradictory through and through, casting nation against nation rather than class against class. Yet, Trump is not a mere exception: this approach is being adopted more and more by the bourgeoisie of all capitalist countries.
Moreover, he is making plans for war against Russia and now more and more China, in order to bring these former workers’ states to their knees and fragment them so as to better subjugate them. More strikingly, the conflict lines extend beyond the age-old enemies of Russia and China. The most crucial example comes from the conflicts and contradictions that Trump provokes between former allies, the US and the EU.
No longer does it make the slightest sense to insist on the old reformist dream of limiting the overall struggle to striving for better wages, pensions, social services, nor to a fight only for more deep-seated democratic rights for all workers and oppressed, nor peace and economic cooperation among nations, not even simply anti-imperialism in a defensive manner. Put differently, the way out cannot be to tail-end the liberal bourgeoisie in its effort to restore “paradise lost.”
Yet there is a way out. The way out for the left forces could only be a radical break with the infatuation with identities in a manner that isolates each oppressed group from the others. This also requires a turn to the working class in each country in order to bring under its leadership all forces that are fighting for a better society. The way out is to establish a Workers’ United Front in order to counter the rise of the fascistic, far-right, chauvinistic movements with the power of the working class rather than the isolated demands of this or that “identity. “The way out is to prepare to fight the anti-immigrant, Muslim-basher, anti-Semitic hordes in Europe and the MAGA street bands in the US by setting up self-defence committees in factories, schools, and working-class neighbourhoods The way out is to form a close collaboration among the forces of all nations and peoples to fight together in internationalist fashion and to top this with the formation of a revolutionary International, a world party of socialist revolution.
The way out is to fight Zionism and stop the genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine, to reject any form of a new Nakba under any name: Zionist's so-called “self-defence”, Trump's “Middle-Eastern Riviera” plan or Erdogan's hejirah plan submitted in a professional style by some of his spin-doctors, and to make the Palestinian revolution to be a part of a socialist federation of the West Asia and North Africa. The way out is to bring the workers and oppressed of all nations in a fight to put an immediate end to the Zionist genocide of the Palestinian people, aided and abetted by imperialism, as a sign of the defence in the near future of other oppressed nationalities at the hands of imperialism.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two. 9 May 1945 is the day when Nazism and fascism were smashed, primarily by the Red Army jointly with the revolutions and uprisings of the workers and peasants of many countries from France in the west to Korea in the east, the military operations of the so-called Allies coming in a distant third. It will again be the workers and the peasants who will put down the menace from the capitalist class against humanity. What made the victory of the Red Army possible was the extreme level of self-sacrifice on the part of the Soviet peoples to uphold the first workers’ state established by and the Bolsheviks despite all the blunders and the misdeeds of the Soviet bureaucracy. Today, without any workers’ state in a position to lead the peoples of the world, any nationalistic orientation on the left will lead outright to disaster. Only a proletarian internationalism that strikes hard at fascism’s nationalism can win the great struggle between the classes.
Down with fascism and chauvinism in all countries and continents!
Down with the nuclear Armageddon of World War Three!
Fight militarism, fight all rearming of nations and the European Union!
Out of NATO, smash NATO!
Forward for revolutionary workers parties and a proletarian revolutionary International!
For unity between the revolutionary working class and all the oppressed of the world!
Long live the world revolution!
Long live socialism!
