The expression "the spirit of Anchorage" originated after the meeting of the American and Russian presidents on August 15, 2025 at the American base Elmendorf-Richardson near Anchorage, a city in Alaska in the United States. It was actively and widely used with laudatory and even enthusiastic comments by Russian officials and in the Russian media. But, as one might assume, this spirit did not justify the hopes placed on it, and after the joint aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran, which began on February 28, 2026 and led in the very first hours and days to numerous casualties among the civilian population of Iran, including the "remote" killing of children, it evaporated according to the statement of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, S. A. Ryabkov and the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, S. V. Lavrov. In fact, this very spirit had "evaporated" even before it appeared. After all, the Yankees acted the same way in all previous cases, starting with their negotiations with the Indians of North America, when they "smoked a pipe of peace" only to immediately turn the peace into a war and, if possible, destroy an opponent who was practically unarmed compared to them at a safe distance. So their renaming of the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of War speaks for itself.
The evaporation of this spirit has already led to, of course, severe, at least reputational losses for Kremlin politicians and personally for the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. But not only reputational ones. At the same time, another consequence of the evaporation of the "spirit of Anchorage" was the resurgence and rapid, although not yet obvious and impossible for many, of the well-known and for some ever-memorable "ghost of communism." The peculiarity of the modern situation is that if at the time of its appearance it was a European ghost that only threatened to become a world ghost, and only as a result of October 1917 it started to became a world ghost, but it never became one, now it really is, and without any exaggeration, a global, universal ghost. The dilemma facing not only the modern proletariat, but also humanity as a whole, is more acute and tragic than the previous one: This is no longer "communism or barbarism," but "communism or the destruction of humanity." There is no doubt that agonizing capitalism is ready to commit and is already committing any crime, and in the face of the threat of its final collapse, it may even go to the destruction of everything including its own literal physical destruction.
Inthis situation, the historic responsibility of Marxists and revolutionaries, of all conscientious, honest and thoughtful people, including those belonging to the so-called middle class in the sense of the petty-bourgeoisie, is organizing all over the world and above all in Russia. There is still a chance to prevent the impending global catastrophe, but for this everyone will have to make every effort, show political and simply human wisdom, courage and determination. It is encouraging that the United Communist Party (OKP) has submitted documents for registration under the name "Labor Russia", and there is hope that this registration will take place. Of course, it is up to this party to decide how and what to do, to determine strategy and tactics, but the opinion of its supporters, everyone who is not an outsider, and even just a sympathizer is also important. The Soviet Union Association believes that it is necessary not only to achieve an alliance of all forces close to this party, but also to unite all leftist forces in Russia and create a single truly people’s front that would be able to lead first to a socialist Constituent Assembly (Congress) chosen by all the people, and then, with a favorable combination of circumstances and proper policy, to the choice of a leftist presidential candidate and the beginning of a truly popular policy and the transformation of today's "peripheral" capitalism of the Russian nomenklatura into a new Soviet socialism, to the re-establishment of the RSFSR and the USSR.
