The imperialist attack on Iran must be crushed! Time to mobilize!
On the morning of February 28, Zionist Israel and American imperialism launched an attack against Iran in a manner that was evidently pre-coordinated. It was known that the negotiation process that had been continuing for some time between the U.S. and Iran was being used by U.S. imperialism to build up forces around Iran and prepare for war. In his first statement after initiating the attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that they had embarked upon “major combat operations” and openly declared that they were aiming at regime change in Iran. Although it has only just begun, it is understood that imperialism has completed its preparations for a long-term assault.
Imperialism and Zionism have once again attacked the peoples and states of our region. While Iran is waging a war of national defense against imperialist aggression, there can be no neutrality. As revolutionaries of Turkey and West Asia (the Middle East), in this war, we stand with Iran against the terrorist attacks of the U.S. and Israel. The only solution that serves the interests of our working class and that is progressive is the crushing of imperialist and Zionist banditry by force of arms. Iran’s national defense, and every move it undertakes within that defense, is entirely legitimate. We never forget the legitimate struggle of the Iranian people for bread and freedom, and we will continue to stand with that struggle. However, whoever invokes and distorts the struggle of the Iranian people as a pretext to endorse aggression against Iran, or preaches neutrality, is an enemy of both the Iranian people and all the peoples of West Asia.
A significant majority of the states in our region, fearing Iran’s retaliation, had timidly expressed that they did not want an attack on Iran and declared that they would not allow their territories to be used for this attack. A number of states, such as Jordan, however, have committed the treachery of fully opening their territories to preparations for imperialist aggression. All the states of West Asia have before them the obligation to support Iran unhesitatingly against imperialist and Zionist aggression. It must not be forgotten that this aggression is also part of an operation to disarm and subdue Palestine and the Palestinian resistance. To remain neutral in this war means implicitly siding with Zionism against Palestine. Those who aid and abet imperialist aggression, or who watch the attack from the sidelines, will bear around their necks the shame of betraying the Arab, Persian, Turkish, and Kurdish peoples of our region! The only response to this is for the revolutionary waves that have shaken our region twice in the past 15 years to rise once more and, in order to rescue West Asia from this disgrace, to overthrow the collaborating governments.
Although the government in Turkey has stated that it does not want war in Iran, it has chosen to watch this banditry from the sidelines. Moreover, it has prepared for the war not in order to assist Iran against American imperialism and Israeli Zionism—the sworn enemies of our peoples—but to prevent people who might be forced to flee Iran from crossing the border, thereby subjecting the working people of this land to great shame. While our brother Iran defends its dignity against imperialism with weapons in hand, our working people must see the true face of those who, invoking sectarian differences and listing geopolitical justifications, say that we should remain neutral—thus serving imperialism and Zionism! The working people of this land, who have experienced the national liberation struggle, who know imperialist occupation and armed resistance against occupation very well, today have no interest other than the defeat of imperialism and the victory of Iran. A West Asia in which the imperialists and Zionists return empty-handed in the face of Iran’s resistance will be a West Asia in which imperialism and its collaborators will not be able to intervene with the same ease against the future victories of our working class. Iran’s national defense must prevail! The government in Turkey must immediately close the İncirlik and Kürecik bases to the imperialists, which are weapons in the hands of imperialism against Iran, and wipe this black stain from the nation’s brow.
As seen in Rojava, U.S. imperialism and Israeli Zionism are not friends of the Kurdish people. For years, the U.S., which presented itself as a friend and ally of various Kurdish organizations, changed sides when the decisive moment arrived in Syria and became part of the attempt to corner the Kurdish people. It is possible that imperialism may pursue a similar course in Iran. Kurdish people and their organizations must not allow imperialism to sow seeds of hostility between them and Iran and the other peoples of the region. Imperialism has not been a supporter but an obstacle to the Kurdish people’s quest for freedom, including their right to self-determination.
To present imperialist aggression as if it were support for the Iranian people’s struggle for bread and freedom is the greatest of betrayals. As a result of imperialist aggression, the bread of Iran’s working people will shrink and their security of life will disappear. Moreover, imperialism, which aims at “regime change” in Iran, will seek to trigger a dynamic of collapse within the country, driving the Iranian people into migration as in Syria. In other words, not only will the bread of the Iranian people shrink and their freedom further diminish, but this people, who have always walked with their heads held high, will also be subjected to national humiliation. No true friend of the Iranian people could desire this. The defeat of imperialism is not against, but in favor of, the Iranian people’s struggle for bread and freedom.
In Turkey, in West Asia, and across the world, the task that falls to the working peoples is to rise up for the defeat of imperialism and Zionism and for the victory of Iran. As revolutionaries of the region, we unhesitatingly determine pick side against imperialist aggression and call on all anti-imperialist forces to join this struggle.
