George Ibrahim Abdallah, a Lebanese communist fighter of the Palestinian cause, has been imprisoned for 41 years in the dungeons of French imperialism, the willing subcontractor of US imperialism and Israeli Zionism. Make no mistake; George Abdallah is no mere prisoner whose rights have been violated, and his cause is not just a matter of human rights. Comrade George Abdallah's imprisonment is a joint punitive attack by Western imperialism against a revolutionary leadership that dared to attack imperialism and Zionism from the front. It is with this knowledge that the Revolutionary Workers Party (DIP) in Turkey considers the case of George Abdallah as a front in the protracted war of imperialism and Zionism against the peoples of the Middle East (West Asia), and considers the removal of this valiant comrade from the hands of imperialism as a victory to be won on this front.
It is clear that, in order to prevent the release of comrade George Abdallah, various imperialist powers have made a series of moves. At the last hearing in February, the courts of French imperialism confirmed that comrade Abdallah should be released, yet conditioned this on the payment of compensation to the families of various US diplomats who were at the time targets of various actions. This is an indirect way of keeping Abdallah imprisoned ad infinitum, who could have been freed since 1999, but has spent a quarter of a century in the dungeons because he refused to sign the documents that French imperialism put in front of him, which implied that he repented on his revolutionary actions. Nevertheless, Abdallah's friends and comrades continue to look for a solution that would circumvent this conspiracy and obtain his freedom.
The Revolutionary Workers' Party embraces the struggle for the freedom of George Abdallah as a front of the anti-imperialist and anti-Zionist fight it has been waging, and raises this flag in all areas where it is present. As on every front, our duty on this front is to march against imperialism and Zionism with all our strength, to push them back, and to obtain victories. In this respect, the fight for the liberation of Abdallah, led by the United Campaign for the Freedom of Abdallah, and by friends of Palestine around the world, is even more urgent at a time when a genocidal war is being waged against Palestine, when Iran's legitimate nuclear program is the target of Zionism and US imperialism. On July 17th, it is high time to take the first step towards other victories on the horizon against imperialism by wresting George Abdallah from the hands of imperialism.
